## 14 Oct 2026: usability release
- Guided story: 8 key moments from Argyll in 1975 to the latest month (Story button; runs once on first visit, with Skip).
- Big headline: date and UKCS output beside Play, with change vs the Jan 2000 peak and vs 12 months earlier.
- Every view is a link: month, open field, layers, chart mode, Brent options, event filters, speed, loop and pinned month are kept in the address bar, including during playback. Share copies the link and downloads a PNG.
- Time filter: fields, installations, wind farms (where OpenStreetMap has start dates) and tidal sites appear from their start date. "Show future assets" draws later ones as dashed outlines.
- Events and incidents grouped as Incident, Policy & tax, First & milestone and Price shock, with a key and filters.
- Production chart: hover readout, top 5 fields or by basin, pin a month to compare. HMRC chart: legend, round axis, hover breakdown.
- Keyboard: Left/Right month, Shift for a year, Space play/pause, Home/End; click the date to type one.
- Playback speeds 0.5 to 5 years a second, loop, and playback keeps running with a panel open.
- Field panel: copy link, step to the next or previous field by output, status row.
- Renewables now drawn in a white and lavender family so they stand apart from oil and gas.
- Top 10 producing fields labelled at every zoom.
- Mobile: Layers and Chart bottom sheets, full-screen panels with Back, larger touch targets.
- Fixes: tooltips no longer stick or show stale months; clicking anywhere in a field or wind polygon opens it; loading indicator.

## Oct 2026: first preview
- Map of UKCS fields, installations, pipelines, events, offshore wind and tidal, with NSTA production from June 1975 and HMRC receipts.
